Dear Fellow Theme Party Thrower and Lover,

If you’ve ever wanted to throw a theme party so fabulous your guests enjoy every minute there and rave about it for months. . . then this is going to be the most important message you’ve ever read!

Whenever I throw a party, the main worry that goes through my head the entire time is, "I hope everybody is having a good time!" I begin worrying about this issue way before the actual party date. In fact, I start worrying about it as soon as I set the date -- and sometimes even before then. I really don't want to give a party that's a flop! I completely focus on the "fun factor" and want all of my friends to thoroughly enjoy themselves the entire time they are guests at my theme parties. That is always my #1 goal!

I’m sure you’ve all been to theme parties that were just . . . well . . . kind of boring. You arrive, and you don’t know anybody - or everyone seems busy talking with others they know, and that doesn’t include you. The decor consists of a couple of streamers, paper plates and balloons in matching colors. Only half of the guests come in costume, or aren’t participating in the activities the host and hostess have planned. There is just no spirit of fun or camaraderie in the gathering! Then, another disappointment -- the food is only so-so. You get the idea -- something's missing. It’s the type of party you wished you’d never gone to, and are eager to make an excuse to get out of there!

And, we all hope we never, ever, give a party that’s such a dud! How upsetting would that be?!

To be perfectly honest with you, I did throw one of those dull theme parties many years ago. It was a dinner party for 10 couples at my home for Valentine's Day and while I spent many hours planning all of the details (the menu and table decor, making pretty party favors, hiring after-dinner entertainment, etc.) for this special evening with friends, the party never really got off the ground. As it was unfolding, I knew in my heart that it wasn't what I had hoped it would be. It was nearly a complete flop -- but I didn't know what was missing, or what I had done wrong!

That very night I made up my mind to learn everything I could about throwing killer theme parties! I never ever wanted to have that sinking feeling in my stomach again -- no matter what party or event I was throwing!
